The Oklahoma History Center presents “Hands-on History Day” Saturday July 11, 2009.
Join us at the Oklahoma History Center for a hands-on adventure into Oklahoma’s past. Bring the entire family for vintage games, crafts, activities, living history and more. Learn to quilt or make Model Magic pots or visit with our Cattle Drive cook, Pioneer Woman and more. Learn 1950s dance moves, rock out with karaoke on stage, and make your own cover art in conjunction with our new Rock Exhibit.
Hands-on History Day is designed for families. No registration is required and you can join the activities at any time. Best of all it is FREE with Museum Admission. Admission is just $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for students and kids or just $15 per family.

The Oklahoma History Center presents "An Evening with Benjamin Franklin" Thursday July 2, 2009. Hear Ben tell of his early life in Boston as an apprentice to his brother. Spend time in Philadelphia with stories of printing and inventing. And he certainly will talk about the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and how he was able to win the revolutionary war...with his kite!
The Oklahoma History Center will open its doors at 6:00 p.m. The first floor museum galleries will be open for visitors to enjoy. Seating is limited and available on a first come first serve basis. The program will begin at 7:00 p.m.
This program is family friendly and appropriate for all ages. Everyone from 6 years old to 96 years old will enjoy their time with one of America's founding fathers. An Evening With Ben Franklin is a living history program designed to introduce the audience to the life of Franklin through first person interpretation. Benjamin Franklin, portrayed by Stephen Smith, will lead the audience in a discussion and end the program with questions from the audience.
Stephen Smith has been portraying Ben Franklin for almost 20 years in schools and libraries across our state and beyond.
